Choo Choo's Day Nursery and Preschool is a family run setting in Taunton, that provides exceptional standards of childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years. Here at Choo Choo's we aim to provide an environment that will encourage children to develop into happy, confident individuals. We foster our child's natural curiosity, sense of awe and wonder, enthusiasm to learn, and encourage the children to explore and investigate a range of resources and materials using all of their senses. We work closely with our sister setting, Chugger's Day Nursery, to share good practice and support children's learning and development. We offer an outstanding and nurturing experience in a beautiful, warm and traditional environment. The nursery offers great facilities and promotes outdoor learning.

Nursery Practitioner

The role of the Nursery Practitioner is to ensure all children attending Choo Choo's Day Nursery receive high quality care, are kept safe and are provided with planned and stimulating play experiences which meet their individual needs and support all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum

We are looking for a practitioner of any level, apprentice, level 2 or level 3+ to work full time at the setting. You will need to be available to work Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm. 

 

All staff are offered opportunities for continued professional development. Our employees are the heart of what we do at Choo Choo's Day Nursery and all staff are fully supported with training and progression within the setting or beyond.
 

We are looking for committed, enthusiastic and inspiring individuals with a basic understanding of the EYFS. You must possess excellent planning and communication skills both written and verbal, be self-motivated and flexible and enjoy working as part of a team. A sense of humour is essential.

Club Manager

Accountability: The post-holder will be responsible to the Nursery Manager at Choo Choos Day Nursery and Preschool

Responsibility: The manager will be responsible for the management of all the staff in the setting and the welfare of the children attending

Location: Primarily based at St Andrews Church School hall, but will be required to have meetings with the nursery manager at Choo Choos Day Nursery and Preschool

Hours: 7.30am – 9.00am - Monday to Friday term time, but an additional 1 hour each half term for a managers meeting at Choo Choos Day Nursery and Preschool. Additional optional hours could be available upon request, working as a nursery assistant at the nursery.


Management experience is essential and childcare experience is desirable.
 

Purpose of the job:

  • To lead and be responsible for the day to day organisation of the breakfast club provision, which is based at St Andrews Church School, but run by Choo Choos Day Nursery and Preschool.

  • In addition to managing breakfast club, to be responsible for planning and liaising with the nursery manager ideas for afterschool club and holiday club, which will be discussed once every half term.

  • Providing high standards of care and play opportunities for children between the ages of 4 - 11 years old in a safe and secure environment.
     

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Delivering the breakfast club provision

  • To lead the day to day management and organisation of the breakfast club

  • To provide line management to a team of breakfast club assistants, directing the work of staff based at the breakfast club assistants, supervising their activities and inducting new staff members.

  • Work with all staff to ensure and provide care, play opportunities and activities in a homely, nurturing, and safe environment, with regard to the individual development needs of the children.

  • To lead and motivate a team of staff to deliver high quality creative play opportunities in a safe and caring environment

  • Liaise with the nursery with regard to the needs of the children who attend the club

  • Uphold, implement and regularly review all policies and procedures of the group in partnership with the staff team and the nursery

  • Maintain all records relating to the management of the club ensuring confidentiality and data protection of the children, their families and members of staff.

  • Liaise with the nursery to ensure rigid financial control of club’s budget and be responsible for the ordering and purchasing of equipment, supplies and resources

  • To be responsible for the day to day administration and record keeping that includes maintaining records of attendance and managing staff absences and lateness.

  • Develop professional working relationships with the nursery, the school, all relevant professionals and authorities including the local authority and Ofsted

  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of the service.

  • To develop and manage the planning and organisation of the holiday club.

  • To ensure that adequate standards of safety and hygiene are maintained throughout the club, including the completion of appropriate risk assessments and recording and reporting of hazards and accidents.

  • Have due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and to follow the child protection procedures adopted by the Local Authority and the club’s safeguarding policy.

  • To ensure that all staff work within the policies and guidance and procedures of the schools’ policies.

  • To carry out any other duties which will be seen to enhance the work of the club.
